Author Biography

This book suggests that it's not necessary to have a thorough understanding of difficult scriptures in order to attain enlightenment. If we are confused about how to live, we cannot live well in the present. Especially because there are so many uncertainties in life right now, I highly recommend this book to many people.

［Author Biography］
Hideo Tokuoka
Born in Kyoto Prefecture in 1941. He graduated from the Faculty of Education, Kyoto University. Starting out as an assistant investigator at the Kyoto Family Court, he has served as a professor at Kansai University (Faculty of Sociology), a professor at Kyoto University (Graduate School of Education), and a visiting professor at the Open University of Japan. He holds a doctorate in education (Kyoto University).

While engaged in sociological research, in 1993, he enrolled in the Chuo Buddhism Academy (Jodo Shinshu Hongwanji sect, correspondence course) and graduated from the same school in 1996. In 1997, he completed his teacher training following a formal training. In 2001, he resigned from his post as a sociological researcher and registered as an assistant missionary. In 2003, he qualified as a missionary. After completing his tenure as a visiting professor at the Open University of Japan (2006), he devoted himself to missionary work.
