[Author's Biography]
Terukuni Uki
He was born in Takasaki City, Gunma Prefecture, in 1943. He graduated from Hosei University.
He has served as a judge for the Japanese Dog Preservation Society since 1980 (a public interest incorporated association since 2011), as its secretary-general since 1987, and executive director from 2006 to 2018.
In Fall 2016, he was awarded the Medal with Blue Ribbon for his cultural asset protection activities in preserving and promoting Japanese dogs.
His life's work includes Japanese dogs, kendo, and iaido.
In kendo, he leads the Ichikenkai Haga Dojo.
He has judged Shiba Inu dog shows in Connecticut and Maryland, U.S.A., and lectured at Japanese dog symposiums in the US, U.K., Germany, Sweden, and Taiwan.
