[About the product]
"In Shimane Prefecture, many examples of Kotee (plaster trowel art) can be found in the Iwami region. Most were created from the beginning of the Meiji era to the 1950s, and many outstanding works still remain. (Omission) The Kotee introduced here are not only the results of the plaster techniques mastered by the master artisans of the past, but also include modern works that attempt to revive the craftsmanship and traditions that have faded with social changes." (From the text) This is a photo collection and research book that explores the culture of Kotee in Shimane, where plasterers used trowels to create sculptural decorations on the walls of houses and storehouses. It is a precious book that captures the allure of Kotee, imbued with the craftsmanship of the artisans and the prayers and wishes of the common people."
